Vaughan calls ICC rankings ‘absolute garbage’ over England, NZ’s position

Ben Stokes, right, with Jack Leach celebrates after scoring the winning runs on the fourth day of the 3rd Ashes Test cricket match between England and Australia at Headingley cricket ground in Leeds
Sports News: Previous England chief Michael Vaughan has hammered the International Cricket Council’s positioning framework, naming it as “outright trash”. India are at present positioned number one in ICC Test group rankings, trailed by New Zealand, South Africa, England and Australia.
The cricketer-turned-pundit feels New Zealand and England don’t have the right to get the second and fourth spot in the ICC Test rankings as they haven’t won enough Test arrangement over the most recent two years. “I will be dead legitimate about the ICC rankings. I think they are total trash,” Vaughan was cited as saying by the ‘Sydney Morning Herald’.
“I have no clue how – New Zealand have prevailed upon a lot of arrangement the course of the most recent two years – yet for them to be second, and where it stands apart for me that the rankings can’t be correct is that England in Test coordinate cricket are third, and England for three or four years have battled in Test coordinate cricket, especially abroad,” he said.
The 45-year-old, who has captained England Test group from 2003 to 2008, said the ICC positioning is befuddling. “They have won arrangement at home. They have just barely attracted the Ashes English conditions, they just barely beat Ireland. I think the rankings are somewhat befuddling…

“No group had the right to lose. Credit to New Zealand for a phenomenal game. They will be gutted, they didn’t have the right to lose. It is extremely difficult to kind of entirety up,” Buttler said. The World Cup last saw a first-since forever super-over in which England turned out triumphant as they had scored more limits in the match to lift their lady 50-over title on July 14.

At the point when asked what was happening in his brain as the super-over got tied, Buttler said the match was some cricket exemplary that one most likely couldn’t accept was going on. “I’d state it was one of those amusements you watch on cricket works of art and without a doubt not trust it can occur. Having got out in the game (during 50-over) was kind of disappointment. At that point see a portion of those limits later in the game and experience those feelings,” he said…

How did FB allow livestream of New Zealand attack? PM Ardern seeks answers

A horrific video shot by the gunmen who carried out the mosque massacre was livestreamed on Facebook before being removed by the company
New Zealand mosque shooting
International News: New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern on Sunday said she would be looking for answers from Facebook and other social media firms about how an attack that killed 50 mosque-goers was livestreamed on their platforms.
Saying there were “further questions to be answered” by the tech giants, Ardern said Facebook chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg had been in contact and “acknowledged what has occurred here in New Zealand”. A horrific video shot by the gunmen who carried out the mosque massacre was livestreamed on Facebook before being removed by the company.
But the stream, lasting 17 minutes, was shared repeatedly on YouTube and Twitter, and internet platforms were scrambling to remove videos being reposted of the gruesome scenes. “We did as much as we could to remove, or seek to have removed, some of the footage that was being circulated in the aftermath of this terrorist attack,” Ardern said.
“But ultimately it has been up to those platforms to facilitate their removal.” “I do think that there are further questions to be answered.” In a statement on Sunday, Mia Garlick of Facebook New Zealand vowed to “work around the clock to remove violating content”.
“In the first 24 hours we removed 1.5 million videos of the attack globally, of which over 1.2 million were blocked at upload,” the company said. Ardern was joined by Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison in expressing doubts that current rules go far enough.
Morrison said that social media companies had “co-operated” since the attack. “But I sadly have to say that the capacity to actually assist fully is very limited on the technology side.” He said “assurances were given” that once such content was pulled down, a regime would make sure it did not go back up…

The Indian Space Research Organization intends to send an uncrewed orbiter, lander and rover to the moon in the first half of 2018
Cheap, quick access to space has officially arrived — and in some serious style.
On a late Sunday afternoon in New Zealand, Rocket Lab successfully launched its third rocket. Dozens of employees gathered at the company’s headquarters in Auckland clad in Rocket Lab’s black-and-red colors and let out a series of primordial screams as the rocket took off, flew into space and dropped its satellite payload into orbit.
While issues had delayed this launch for months, Sunday’s event went off without a hitch. Rocket Lab has now established itself in the lead position of a frenetic, worldwide competition to change the economics and speed at which people can get things into space.
“It’s game on,” said Peter Beck, the company’s founder and chief executive officer, in an interview outside of Rocket Lab’s mission control in Auckland. “This era has been coming and coming. Well, the small launch race is over. We have proven it can be done.”|International News
