Angel One

Valuations factor in most of the negatives. Expected improvements in product mix and greater transfer of surplus to shareholders account over the coming years are expected to drive profits from current low levels, which along with cheap valuations provide comfort. Moreover, the discount of Rs 45 and Rs 60 for retail investors and LIC policyholders makes the issue more attractive for them. Hence, we are assigning a subscribe recommendation.

China’s first high-speed rail company launches IPO to raise over $5 billion

The listing adds to signs that China is pushing to further open industries dominated by state-owned companies.
IPO market
The operator of China’s high-speed rail line between Beijing and Shanghai kicked off its initial public offering, which will for the first time allow investors to buy shares in what is the world’s largest such network.
Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway Co., a unit of state-owned China Railway Corp., plans to sell as many as 6.3 billion new shares, or 12.8% of enlarged capital, through the listing in Shanghai, according to its prospectus released Wednesday. Book building for the IPO will begin Jan. 6, it said. The company didn’t say how much it aimed to raise through the sale.
The listing adds to signs that China is pushing to further open industries dominated by state-owned companies. Beijing on Sunday outlined plans to allow private-sector businesses to enter industries including energy, telecoms and rail, and on Tuesday, Premier Li Keqiang pledged to give foreign investors greater access to service sectors including finance and health care.
Those steps have come as a campaign to rein in China’s shadow banking industry has sapped financing for many non-state firms and the trade war with the US has led some multinationals to reassess their investments. With economic growth at the slowest since the early 1990s, Beijing has sought to reassure these contingents and spur more capital spending.

“RITES predominantly is a consulting arm of Indian Railways, while IRCON is normally into project execution and can execute projects across the spectrum. Though both IRCON and RITES are not perfect peers to RVNL but can be considered as proxy peers as they majorly cater to Indian Railways,” wrote analysts at Choice Research in the IPO note…

ANGEL BROKING
In terms of valuation, pre-issue price-to-earnings (PE) works out to 12x of annualised FY18 earnings per share (EPS) of Rs 17 (at the upper end of the issue price band), which is reasonably priced considering: (a) 3.5x of order book with execution capability and experienced management, (b) maintaining the RoE level in the range of 17- 18%, (c) diversified client base and (d) increasing opportunity of revenue from Railways due to new investment in electrification and infrastructure.
Given that the RITES is a preferred consultant of Indian Railways along with other government authorities with exposure in international operation and fair valuation of issue, we recommend subscribing to issue.
CENTRUM WEALTH
Over FY13-17, RITES registered revenue and PAT CAGR of 9% and 11%, respectively. Average earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) margins and return on equity (RoE) over the period stood at 28% and 18%, respectively. RITES is a virtually debt free company.

How did D-Mart shares double on day one?

Answer lies in pre-open call auction, which is a 45-minute window for price discovery

 1490126218-8585

Shares of Avenue Supermarts, which operates successful retail chain D-Mart, doubled during their stock market debut on Tuesday.

While, DMart is not the first company whose stock has doubled on listing day—there have been at least eight other companies— but it is the first since market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) introduced listing day circuit filters.

To curb listing day volatility, Sebi in 2012 introduced circuit filters and the so-called pre-open call auction for IPO stocks. Depending on the size of the Initial Public Offer (IPO), stocks were allowed to move in a trading band of either 10 per cent or 20 per cent on their listing day.

1489073120-8576Then how did Dmart shares double? The answer lies in pre-open call auction, which is a 45-minute window for price discovery before the actual trading begins. During this pre-open sessions, buyers and sellers key in the price at which they want to buy or sell a stock. The prices are then collated and price at which most bids are received becomes the “equilibrium price”. The circuit filters apply on the equilibrium price.

In case of DMart, the equilibrium price was Rs 604, 102 per cent higher than the issue price of Rs 299. The 20 per cent circuit filter in case of DMart was on the discovered price. Therefore, trading would have halted in the counter if the stock would have gone to either Rs 725 or Rs 483.| READ MORE

So, should you invest in this IPO? Here is what leading brokerages across the country suggest?

ANGEL BROKING

Radio City operates 20 markets, while ENIL operates a total of 38 markets. Despite this, Radio City has 23% revenue share compared to 24% share of ENIL. We attribute this to its dominant position in listenership and ability to charge premium advertising rates.

Radio City, with ~19% CAGR in revenue, has outperformed its closest peer ENIL, which reported ~14% CAGR in revenues over FY2013-16. In profitability too, Radio City, with ~54% CAGR in profit after tax (PAT) over FY13-16, has performed much better than ENIL (~17% CAGR in PAT over FY2013-16).
