Pandya, who helped MI beat Chennai Super Kings in an IPL game in Mumbai, was initially suspended by the BCCI and sent back to India from the Australia tour following his comments on a chat show earlier this year. Later, the suspension was provisionally lifted pending an inquiry. The 25-year-old said he has left behind the controversy.

“It feels pretty good to help the team to win and contribute. It’s been seven months that I’ve hardly played games. They weren’t easy and I didn’t know what to do. I’ve just batted and batted. I want to improve my game every day. Apart from a six in Bumrah's over, MI was scoring at a rate of 7.5 runs per over, much lower than the required run rate of over 11.40. Hardik Pandya came in with the last over of the powerplay and was welcomed with a boundary of the very first ball of the over. Only one more boundary came in this over. KKR stood at a modest 47/2 after 6 overs.

KKR wasn't having the best of their nights as Mayank Markande stricken in his very first over, getting rid of Uthappa. Andre Russell came next. Suryakumar Yadav made his fifty, Rohit Sharma failed again as he was caught after scoring 11 runs. Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav were taking the innings ahead. Russell removed Suryakumar Yadav in the 15th over. The run rate slid off a bit but Mumbai had enough overs left to bring it back on track. The remaining batsmen added runs for the team and took the total to 181 after 20 overs. Chasing the target of 182, both the openers Shubman Gill and Chris Gill got out. KKR were 47/1 after the end of the powerplay.

Chris Lynn and Shubhman Gill opened the batting for KKR, Mitchell McClenaghan came for the first over. Just two runs came off the first over. Jasprit Bumrah took the next over, the fourth ball went to the third man for a four, Lynn went for a four yet again in the next ball, the last ball also went for a boundary. Lynn hit a hattrick of fours in the third over by McClenaghan. The bowler took his revenge in the next ball by dismissing Lynn. Hardik Pandya removed Shubhman Gill on the first ball of the next over, Nitish Rana replaced him. McClenaghan came for the 5th over, apart from doubles, Rana hit him for a six on the last ball.Hardik took the 6th over, Uthappa was dropped on the second ball. Just 3 runs came in the over. Krunal Pandya took the 7th over, Uthappa went for a six and Rana hit a four after that.

Bumrah came for the 10th over and conceded just 4 runs off it. Ben Cutting took the 11th over, Uthappa hit four consecutive boundaries in the over. Markande got Uthappa’s wicket in the next over and Dinesh Karthik came after him, just 2 runs came off the over. Hardik Pandya got Nitish Rana on the third ball of the next over. Andre Russell came in after that, 5 runs came off the over, all in singles. McClenaghan was back into the attack in the 15th over, he gave 4 runs and the ball was in Markande's hands, 6 runs came off it, including a boundary. Bumrah came next and managed to get the wicket of Russell on the fourth ball, Karthik hit two consecutive boundaries after that. Pandya took the 18th Karthik hit a boundary on the fourth ball. KKR needed 37 in the last two overs. Bumrah came for the second last over, Karthik hit a six on the second ball, a boundary came off the second last ball. Another four came off the last ball. Krunal Pandya took the last over, a boundary came on the first ball, Narine was out in the next ball. 19 runs were required in the last 4 balls. Karthik hit a boundary on the second last ball but nothing much could be done after that. Mumbai won by 13 runs in the end.

Suryakumar Yadav and Lewis came to open for Mumbai Indians and Nitish Rana just gave a single off it. Yadav hit a boundary off Prasidh in the next over, JOhnson came for the third over, Yadav started the hitting, including a six and two boundaries. Lewis swung into action in the next over and hit Sunil Narine for two consecutive boundaries. Prasidh took the 5th over and after some singles, he hit a six. Lewis smashed a six and two boundaries in the next over off Piyush Chawla. Kuldeep Yadav started well but Yadav hit him for a six on the 4th ball.

Mumbai Indians were 66/0 after 7 overs. Suryakumar Yadav 33 (23) and Evin Lewis 33 (19) were at the crease. The run rate was 9.4 per over.

Nitish Rana came for the 8th over, the batsmen continued the attack. It was a big over for Mumbai as they collected 16 runs off it. Kuldeep Yadav came for the 9th over and apart from singles, a boundary came off the last ball. Russell took the much needed wicket of Lewis on the second ball of the 10th over, capttain Rohit Sharma came to replace him. Piyush Chawla came for the 11th over, Rohit hit a boundary on the second ball, the rest of the over went in singles and doubles. Sunil Narine took the 12th over, Suryakumar Yadav brought in his fifty by taking a single on the first ball. Rohit sharma faced another failure with the bat and was caught on Narine's fourth ball. Hardik Pandya came to replace the captain.

Wickets kept falling at regular intervals and Mumbai had no answer to RCB's bowling attack. Mumbai desperately needed a partnership and RCB was denying it to them. With most of the top order gone much was left on Pandya brothers. Mumbai was in recovery mode as Pandya brothers stuck to the crease to build the much-needed partnership. The match moved towards the last leg and RCB needed a wicket here to avoid any unfavourable twist and that wicket came on the second last over as Krunal Pandya ended up losing his wicket, Mandeep took a simple catch. Hardik Pandya made his fifty and Mumbai needed a big over to win this one but RCB captain Virat Kohli took a splendid catch and ended Hardik Pandya's inning, and so Mumbai's hope of winning the match. Southee bowled the third over adn Duminy hit a classic cover drive on the second ball. Mumbai Indians were 21/1 after 3 overs. Suryakumar Yadav 9(8) and JP Duminy (9) were at the strike.

Yadav got the back to back success on the first two balls of the 4th over. Suryakumar Yadav was LBW and Captain Rohit Sharma was dismissed on a golden duck. Keiron Pollard came to bat and Umesh Yadav maintained the pressure on the batsmen. Mohammed Siraj came for the 5th over and Mumbai Indians batsmen let the over pass in singles and doubles. In the first over Manan Vohra and Quinton de Kock opened the batting for RCB and JP Duminy came for the bowling for MI. Jasprit Bumrah came in with the ball in the third over, the batsmen rotated strike thrice. After 3 overs, RCB were 11/0. Manan Vohra 9 (12) and Quinton de Kock 2(6) were on strike.

Duminy came for the fourth over and Manan Vohra smashed back to back sixes and fours. The run rate and team score saw a sudden jump in the over. Mitchell McClenaghan bowled the fifth one and de Kock hit a boundary after three dot balls. Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma took a brilliant catch on the last ball of the over as he wrapped the ball under his fingers before it touched the ground. LATEST| Magnificent death bowling saw Mumbai Indians snatch an incredible one-run victory from the jaws of defeat against Rising Pune Supergiant in a thrilling grand finale of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Monday.

This was Mumbai Indians third IPL trophy in 10 editions and more special for their skipper Rohit Sharma, who is the only captain to win a hat-trick of titles. Rohit has in fact ow won four IPL titles (one for Deccan Chargers in 2009).

For Mahendra Singh Dhoni, it was yet another final that ended in a defeat -- fifth in seven summit clashes.

In one of the closest finals during the 10 editions, the trio of Jasprit Bumrah (2/26 in 4 overs), Mitchell Johnson (3/26 in 4 overs) and Lasith Malinga (0/21 in 4 overs) were brilliant at the death defending a lowly total of 129/8 as Supergiant were restricted to 128 for 6 at the end.

It was Johnson, who kept his nerve during the final over where 11 runs were needed. Manoj Tiwary smacked the first one to mid-wicket boundary bringing the eqaution down to 7 from 5 balls.

However the next two deliveries turned out to be disaster with both Tiwary and skipper Steve Smith (51, 50 balls) were caught in the deep.

With four required off final ball and 3 for a Super Over, Dan Christian went for an impossible 3rd run only to be run out as Mumbai players celebrated like never before.

Credit should also be given to Bumrah and Malinga for giving away only 10 runs between them in the 17th and 18th over which suddenly increased the pressure.

While the target was an easy one, it turned out to be tricky with 47 needed off the last five overs.

With Mahendra Singh Dhoni (10) at the crease in company of Smith, the Krunal Pandya over yielded 14 runs. Dhoni square cut Krunal and then Smith played a reverse pull for a six to get 14 runs off the over.

English bowler Tyman Mills saw some aggressive bidding as well as Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab held their ground against each other. Both the teams did not shy from upping the stakes till Mumbai bowed out at Punjab’s bid of Rs 7 crore. At this point, the bid war between KKR and RCB started. RCB came out winner with a bid of Rs 12 crore.

Australian Patrick Cummins was fought over by Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Daredevil, the former opening the bid at the reserve price of Rs 2 crore. They however bowed out at Rs 4.5 crore, thus giving Delhi the winning bid and Cummins’ services for the 2017 edition. Fellow autralian Mitchell Johnson was up next (base price Rs 2 crore). Mumbai Indians opened the bid for the fast bowler and snapped him up at reserve price.

South African fast bowler Kyle Abbott (reserve price Rs 1.5 crore) went unsold. Indian fast bowler Ishant Sharma (Rs 2 crore base price) shared the same fate, as he surprisingly remained unsold in the first round of bidding.

After three unsold players in the wicketkeeper category, the Mumbai Indians picked up Nicholas Pooran of West Indies at base price (Rs 30 lakh). The two wicketkeeprs to follow – West Inidan Johnson Charles and Sri Lankan Dinesh Chandimal too remained unsold.
