Supporters of Pervez Musharraf have alleged that the former Pakistan President has been treated unfairly and that he doesnt deserve the death sentence for the ong-drawn high treason case. Activists of the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) gathered outside the Pakistan High Commission in London on Sunday to “demand justice for Pervez Musharraf” and to register condemnation of the “politically motivated” cases against their leader, reports The News International.
Afzal Siddiqui, President APML Overseas, led the protest where the participants raised slogans in Parvez Musharraf‘s support and said that the former military dictator had brought a lot of development to Pakistan and under him the country earned respect in the world. They claimed that Musharraf’s years in power were a “golden era” for Pakistan and he dealt effectively against terrorism, adding that the special court’s verdict against the former leader was unfair.
The Islamabad-based three-judge special court had sentenced the former military ruler to death on December 17. It released a detailed judgement the next day where it ordered the dragging and hanging of Musharraf’s corpse. But the incumbent Imran Khan-led government and the Army have expressed “anger” over ‘paragraph 66’ of the detailed judgement and termed it “unlawful”, “inhuman” and “unconstitutional”.

Pervez Musharraf’s corpse should be dragged to the central square in Islamabad and hanged for three days if the former military dictator dies before his execution, a special court in Pakistan which sentenced him to death said on Thursday in a bizarre judgement.
The three-member special court bench sentenced 76-year-old Musharraf to death in absentia on Tuesday for high treason following a six-year legal case. In its 167-page detailed judgement authored by Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth, who headed the bench, the court on Thursday said the “convict be hanged by his neck till he dies on each count as per charge.” Justice Seth wrote that Parvez Musharraf should be hanged even if he dies before his execution.
“We direct the law enforcement agencies to strive their level best to apprehend the fugitive/convict and to ensure that the punishment is inflicted as per law and if found dead, his corpse be dragged to the D-Chowk, Islamabad, Pakistan and be hanged for 03 days,” he wrote. D-Chowk, or Democracy Chowk is close to several important government buildings – the Presidency, the Prime Minister’s office, the Parliament, and the Supreme Court. The verdict against Musharraf was split by 2-1 as Justice Shahid Karim of the Lahore High Court supported the death sentence while Justice Nazar Akbar of the Sindh High Court disagreed and wrote a dissenting note….

Pakistan’s ailing former dictator on Wednesday said the death sentence given to him by a court in a treason case is based on a “personnel vendetta”. It was Pervez Musharraf’s first reaction to Tuesday’s court verdict, which had already been denounced by the country’s powerful military. Musharraf’s supporters have held small rallies across the country in his support since the court sentenced him to death after finding him guilty of imposing an emergency in violation of the constitution.
In the video released by his party, Parvez Musharraf said “there is no example of such a decision in which neither the defendant and nor his lawyer was given permission to say something in his defense.” He said the court that held his trial in intervals from 2014 to 2019 rejected his request to record a statement in Dubai, where he has been living since 2016, when he left the country to receive medical treatment. Musharraf’s health has witnessed ups and downs, and he was again taken to a hospital this month. He said the court verdict against him was questionable and that the supremacy of rule of law was not maintained.
“I will say that there was no need to hear this case under the constitution but this case was taken up and heard because of personnel vendetta of some people against me and one person was targeted in this case,” he said. Without citing names, he said that those who acted against him “are enjoying high positions and they misuse their office”.

I am LeT's biggest supporter; Hafeez Saeed likes me too: Pervez Musharraf

The former president added he was always in favour of terrorist action in Kashmir

Politics: Former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf has come out in support of the terror groups, the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and the Jamaat-ud-Dawah (JuD), saying they were the biggest force against the Indian Army in Kashmir.

Speaking on Pakistan's ARY News, Musharraf said, "I am the biggest supporter of the LeT and I know they like me and the JuD also likes me."

He further said he liked the global terrorist, JuD chief Hafiz Saeed, and had met him.

The former president added he was always in favour of terrorist action in Kashmir, and the LeT and the JuD were the biggest forces to take on the Indian Army in the state.

"I was always in favour of action in Kashmir and of suppressing the Indian Army in Kashmir and they [LeT] are the biggest force," Musharraf said.

He also accused India of declaring the LeT and the JuD as terror groups with the help of the United States.

"India got them declared as terrorists by partnering with the US," Musharraf said, adding," Yes, they [LeT] are involved in Kashmir and in Kashmir it is, between, we [Pakistan] and India."

Earlier this week, the US strongly condemned the release of LeT leader Hafiz Saeed from house arrest and called for his immediate re-arrest and prosecution.
